How to promote my product is a question I see many times. You have worked tirelessly to create your product, but what do you do with it now? How do you promote it to the world?  The answer, you need to set up a sales funnel and turn your idea into a business. 

Let’s delve into the ins and outs of what is a Sales Funnel and traffic and how you can learn to create one within a few steps.  

 

So What Is a Sales Funnel? 

A sales funnel is a simple one-page website that provides all the information your target audience needs to be persuaded to purchase your product. 

 

Unlike a website that has many distractions that can cause the visitor to stray from your offer, Sales Funnels are designed to direct the user to your product or service with no distractions.

To create a successful Sales Funnel, you have several items that need to be performed, below is a quick overview. 

 

Step 1: Find Your Dream Customer – Create The Perfect Avatar. 

Before you can promote your product, you need to discover your dream customer. You need to know who you are marketing to. 

Grab a pen and paper and start to clearly detail the items listed below. The more you know about your dream customer, the easier and more targeted you can become with your promotion and funnel creation.

Clearly identify: 

  • The age group you are trying to attract 
  • If it’s a training product, what skill set are you aiming for, be it beginner, intermediate, or advance. 
  • Where does your dream customer congregate online ( social media platformed, Youtube, Forums, etc.)
  • What pain points does your product or service solve?
  • What is their background, job, hobbies, etc

Step 2: Create Engaging Content 

To sell your product, you will need people to be interested in your product. The way to do this is to create content that will engage your dream customer. 

If you have done step one correctly, you will have a detailed list of your dream clients’ likes, dislikes, pain points, and the challenges they are facing. 

With this arsenal of knowledge, you can create targeted content that your dream customer will be searching for. Create content that will help them and answer their problems. 

Depending on your preference, you can create blog posts, videos, or posts on social media.

Step 3: Traffic

Now, this is the most difficult for many people. How do I get traffic to my Sales Funnel? 

The question isn’t how do I get traffic. The question should be, where is the conversation. Traffic is there. You need to step into it and provide the content that the people are asking for. 

The easiest way to do this is to research areas where questions about your product are being asked, jump in there and provide them with answers, become an authority, and people will come to you. 

Use Facebook and search groups on your niche, join these groups, and provide value. Do not sell. Provide value, you will soon find people will come to you, and you will be able to direct them to your product. 

Use Google to find what people are searching relating to your niche, find what articles and content rank on page one, research the content and write a better article ( don’t copy ). Your mission is to make your article or content better than theirs.  

Use long-tail keywords. Use Google keyword tool and search “how do I (your niche). From there, check the search volume and write or make a video for these words. 

The above is all for organic traffic (free). If you want to go for paid advertising on Facebook, Youtube, and Google, etc., it can bring faster results, but it also can be expensive. 

 

 

Create Your Sales Funnel 

The basic structure of a Sales Funnels consists of: 

 

The Hook 

Have a catchy headline that makes your visitor immediately intrigued. 

“How To Create Bullet-proof Financial And Personal Wealth So You Can Avoid Having To Work For Someone Else”

 

The Who 

Who are you? Introduce yourself to the person who is visiting your Sales Funnel 

 

The What?

WHAT do you have for me? Explain your product 

 

The Why?

Explain why they need this product or service? What will it do for them? How will it remove their pain (all items are purchased to remove pain or fear. Even if it’s a simple item, the buyer always buys through emotion. “How will this make my life easier, will this save me time,” etc). 

 

The How?

Provide a call to action of how they can get your product. What do they need to do, or where do I need to go to order/signup?

 

Track and Trial 

Once you have your Sales Funnel set up, you need to track your visitors to determine how your Funnel is performing. 

If you find you are getting a low buy-in rate or sign up, it will probably require you to tweak  Who, What, Why, and How. 

 

Conclusion 

To promote your product  Sales Funnel has been proven to be far more effective at sales than your standard website. The above is just a very general overview.

What you have to remember is social media is used by people trying to escape their day. They want to watch funny videos of cats and snoop on their friends and family. 

 Social media is used to kill time by many. It’s like watching the TV and just losing yourself for a brief five to ten minutes. 

 So this means that the majority of social media traffic is not people actively looking to buy products.

So How Do You Get Traffic? 

The easiest way to get traffic is to make conversation. 

Conversation equals sales.

Your Facebook Profile 

Your profile is your shop front. For people to come into your shop, you want to be welcoming and inviting

Have a photo of your team or your own photo for your profile. You want people to have a connection, see that you are real. 

Your personal Facebook profile is not just your profile. It is a landing page for your traffic. 

Within your profile, include a hook, which will make the visitor want to click on. When they click, have a description and a call to action.

Find Your Audience 

With your niche, search Facebook and find 8-10 (more if possible) groups where your ideal customer will be. 

Once you have joined these Groups, start engaging and interacting. You are not here to sell. You are here to help and provide value to the group. 

Join in on the conversations and provide valuable content. 

Again, you are not here to sell, so do not pitch to the group. 

Your goal is to be value-based! 

 

Content 

Provide posts about your journey, what keeps you motivated and things you have learned along the way that will help them as well!

 

What If I Don’t Want My Friends To See My Posts? 

Facebook allows you to manage the people who see your posts. Simply place your friends and family into a category and remove them from your work-related posts.  

 

Building Trust and Relationships

Now you are in your niche groups and have been engaging and providing value; the group will become used to your participation. 

Many will want to delve a little deeper and begin looking at your profile ( the one you set up at the beginning). They will see your welcoming photo and your call to action. 

From here, they will provide organic traffic to your website, funnel or offer. 

 

Friend Requests 

You can start sending friend requests to these people to generate leads. 10-20 friend requests a day is good to go with, don’t overdo it or Facebook will block you! Also, take some time to go study their profile to get good leads.

 

Acceptance 

Once your friend request is accepted, send them a simple message, again, no selling, just a note to say hello. 

 ‘Hey (name), thanks for accepting my friend request its great to connect to you! Just saw you in the (your group’s name) group. I like connecting to like-minded people within the same niche. How are you doing?’

 

Remain Providing Value 

Now you have this interaction (friend request), continue to add value. If you suddenly just start to pitch, your exchange will be terminated very quickly. 

The more value you provide, the greater authority you become. People will come to you for advice; then you can pitch. The more value you give, the more money you make.

 

People Buy From People They Like or Trust

It’s that simple, “People buy from people they like or trust”. 

To succeed with Facebook’s organic traffic, you have to provide value and trust. If you pitch your product before being asked, the traffic will just cease.

The above is the process of warming up your audience; take them from the cold zone to the hot zone.

With the pain now coursing through your reader’s veins, your audience will now seek to remove that pain. 

Explain your story, how your product has turned your pain into pleasure, how it has made your life easier or has broken down the barriers you have faced. 

Make the product seem irresistible. Without acting now, your pain will remain. Leverage the emotions they are feeling at that moment. 

 Change for people is not a matter of ability; it is a matter of motivation. Show them that your product can provide the pleasure and satisfaction they need and it can do it now!

  • What will you gain?
  • If you change this now, how will your life be?
  • What will it mean for the people you love?
  • What will it give you?

The Hook – Catch the audience attention 

With a reported attention span of only eight seconds for the average online user, you need a catchy headline that will make the viewer want to stop and read your or watch your pitch. 

Create a strong headline that intrigues and catches the eye of the visitor, for example : 

 

“How Every Beginner Investor Can Find Great Stocks Consistently”

 

“How Any Beginner Investor Can Make Six Figures”

 

“Fast Ways To Find Great Stocks Consistently And Avoid Making High-risk Investments That Rarely Pay Off”

 

Use Scarcity 

Scarcity implies there is a shortage of the product, that there is limited time to get it. Take a coupon for example. All have expiry dates. This makes you have to go and use them now. 

Letting your potential customer know that this offer will expire in 2 days or that this price will increase very soon provides extra reason to buy the product or service now.

If you had outsourced this, what else could you have done with those 9-10 hours? What tasks that you know how to perform could you have completed, thus bringing your vision closer to the marketplace? 

 

I Don’t Have Extra Cash To Outsource

Your now thinking, but I don’t have an additional $720 for a logo. You don’t need that much. Yes, there will be an associated cost, but with sites such as Fiverr available, you can have a professional logo made by experienced graphic designers for as little as $25. 

 

Step back and look at the opportunity costs. If you can, continue to work at your day job. Take the money from there and give to the “who can do this”.

If you think you are going to become the business owner who does everything, you will become overwhelmed and probably fail.

Who are the people you are trying to attract to your business, service, or product? Who is your dream client? 

 If you have not yet sat down and worked this out you could be missing out on growing your company or making the shift to sell more products.

 

The Wrong Client Experience

From my 20+ years as an engineer, I have come across many that I would describe as the wrong client. Through these years I have had the privilege of training young upcoming engineers, some of who I would describe as my dream client and some the wrong client.  

The dream client is eager, craves information and is a joy to work with. They feed off your knowledge. You will find you give them 110% as training the dream client is very rewarding.

The wrong client, the trainee who is not really interested and is here solely for “a job,” is a different story. Training someone who has no spark for the role they are performing, no plan to get ahead can make you feel frustrated and empty inside.

The same is true for your online business. Market for your dream client and your sales will increase, market for the wrong client and you will become frustrated and tired.

 

 

Identify Your Dream Client 

To identify your dream client, you need to delve deep.

-who your ideal customer is

-what are their likes and dislikes

-where are they congregating online

-what is their problem and pain points

Knowing as much as you can about your dream client will allow your promotion content to be much more effective, no matter what platform you use. 

 

Knowing Your Dream Client 

With any marketing promotion, you must remember that people buy through emotion. The product they buy serves to solve a solution to a problem they are having. 

Understanding your dream client’s problems and their pain points allows you to market them a solution.

 

Questions You Should Answer

Creating your dream customer profile should include the list below. Once created, it will allow you to make the right content and provide those irresistible offers.

Dream Client Template

 

Q1/ What interests and hobbies do they have?

What do they enjoy? Know the sports do they play? What TV show/movie genres ( sci-fi, comedy, etc).

If your dream client follows sports, they will likely watch highlights on YouTube and video platforms. With this knowledge, you can create content for these platforms.

 

Q2/ Where do they congregate online. What forums, groups, social media etc.

Learning your dream client’s hangouts allows you to go deep into the pain points. Most groups and forums have users that are searching for help or information. Learn these pain points then you can provide the answer.

 

Q3/ What age group are you targeting.

Be specific about your age group. If you are targeting 25 to 60 years old, this may be too broad an age range. A 30-year-old is probably not going to have the same problems as a 55-year-old. Be specific, target 25 to 35, then create another dream client profile for the 35 to 60 age range.

 

Q4/ Relationship – do you want to target single or married males or females?  

What appeals to women will not necessarily appeal to men, so again, be specific.

 

Q5/ Background

What job do they have, what is their annual income? Are they employed or self-employed?

 

Q6/ Demographic

Do they rent or have a mortgage? Do they live in an apartment or a house?

 

Q7/ Goals

What do they want to achieve, financially, professionally and personally?

 
Q8/ Challenges

What challenges do they face at work and personal?

Are they feed up with commuting, feed up working for someone else. Tired of being told what to do. Are they tired of not being listened to? Would they like to move to a bigger home, wish for a better car?

 

Q9/ Common Objections

What is holding them back? What is a common fear?

Work issues – do they wish to branch out alone but do not have the confidence or feel they have the experience. Do they have a product in mind they want to create but have no idea how to market? 

Do they have a skill that they would like to utilise but have no idea where to start?

 

Collate Your Information 

With all this information inputted, you can now see a clear outline of your dream client. This exercise will allow you to learn about their motivations, desires and fears. Allowing you to produce the perfect content for your dream customer.  

 

Conclusion 

Your dream client profile could be one of the most critical steps you take and is one 90% of marketers do not perform. 

With this information to hand, you will know that the content you create will serve the audience you are trying to help. 

 If you have different dream customers, create multiple customer profiles.

Ultimately the information you provide is the key to traffic and sales. If you don’t know your dream customer your content does not always translate well to the user. Discovering your dream client’s profile will remove the guesswork.

The secret to driving traffic to your website or content is an audience. Your page is your stage!

If you already have a Facebook account,  set up a Page that relates to your site, business, or product. Your Facebook page is unique and separate from your personal page.  Place daily posts on your page relating to your website, engage the audience.  

Create posts that :

  • Make them look good
  • Help them feel good

Twitter is ideal for blog postings and content sharing. Instagram or Pinterest is probably best for you if you want to focus on visuals. If you focus on high-end business and technology deals Linkedin may be the better choice.

In each case, make sure you take time to understand your brand’s social platform. You do not want to create content for social media marketing just to learn your ideal audience is on another platform, do your research. 

 

Find a Problem Your Audience Has and Solve It for Them

Always provide value and research what your target audience is looking for. In many cases, you are your perfect audience.

Think back 2-3 years ago, what answers were you searching for back then?

What problems did I need to resolve to get me on my path I am now? 

How did you find the answers? 

Put last together of these items then create content for this. 

Head over to forums that are connected to your niche and search for questions that people are asking.  Provide your knowledge, show them you are an authority in the niche. Continue on this path, keep giving valuable information, keep helping others.  Once you are established users will see you are not there solely to spam your content. You will build trust and you can slowly begin to introduce users to your website or business. As you have provided value, they will be happy to visit.

 

Summary

Without traffic, a website is just a pretty page. With the wrong traffic, it has no value. 

Quality targeted traffic is what is required.  To enable this,  the more niche-specific content you can create and solve problems, the better.

Follow the steps above and bring that targeted audience to you.  Gaining traffic can be a long process,  stick with it and the rewards will follow.

Article Creation 

One of the best and most proven tactics for organic traffic is through Article creation and blogging.

  1. Do not overpopulate your article with your keywords.  Keyword repetition is frowned upon by search engines and can be detrimental to your article. 
  1. DO NOT PLAGIARISE

With your completed unique and original article, we now need to distribute across other platforms such as Hubpages.com and  articlesfactory.com.  With thousands of users viewing these sites each month, if you have created unique content, your article can reach thousands of engaging viewers.

Promote your affiliate links in:

  • Product tutorials.

  • Social media posts.
  • Email marketing
  • Digital products (i.e. eBooks, online courses).

Of the above, you can post your content to one source or all the above.  Take into account where your target audience/customers are at! Think about what you are promoting and the problem you are trying to solve with the product. Once you have decided, then work out where people with those

issues hang out. Specific Facebook groups, following certain people on Instagram, are they looking for the solution on YouTube?

Promoting your chosen product also depends on where your strengths lie.  If you are shy and fear going on camera then  YouTube or Twitter you will probably avoid, it is probably best to stick to writing or maybe creating audio podcasts. If your not camera shy and can provide inviting content then YouTube, Instagram and Tic Toc will probably be your choice.

Your blog must be genuine and unique, not copied and pasted from others.  Within your blog, you will place your links to the products you are selling. Once the reader clicks on the link and purchases the product, you will receive a commission.
